
Hawick Museum and Gallery reveals the lives of Hawick’s people through the objects they loved, used every day, and brought back from far-away places. You can also explore the exciting careers of two local lads who found world fame as motorcycle champions: Jimmie Guthrie and Steve Hislop. In a room overlooking Hawick’s unique Art Deco war memorial, an impressive Roll of Honour commemorates townsmen who fell in the two World Wars.
Three galleries house temporary exhibitions, so there’s always something new to see. A lively programme of schools events includes ‘lessons’ in a period schoolroom and quizzes for children.
The museum is set in a beautiful Victorian park, a real hidden jewel of the Borders, with crazy golf and a café on the doorstep.

Hawick is on the A7 between Galashiels and Carlisle , just 20 minutes drive from Selkirk or Jedburgh. In Hawick, follow signs for Museum and Park, or set your Sat Nav system to TD9 7JL.
A forest walk leads from the car park to the Museum, with limited disabled parking at the building itself.
Hawick Museum is open all year, except between Christmas and New Year. Admission is free. The museum shop sells cards and gifts.
The ground floor and the Scott Gallery on the first floor are fully wheelchair accessible.
